In the fast-paced world of industrial operations, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity is critical. SKF’s split cylindrical roller bearings provide a smart solution to this challenge. Their ease of installation, high load capacity and durability make them the first choice in industries where time is money. Combined with proper maintenance, these split bearings can significantly reduce the time and resources spent on equipment maintenance, keeping your operation running smoothly.

In the mining, quarrying and cement industries, conveyors are some of the most difficult machinery to keep operating efficiently. Conveyors often use split bearings. To prevent contamination of the conveyor bearings and reduce the lubrication required, maintenance time is reduced. In order to cope with Cooper Split Spherical Roller Bearings are specifically designed to reduce contamination from bearing failures, extend bearing life, and reduce downtime, maintenance costs, and worker risks by field replacement of bearings. . Sealed bearings are also available, which greatly reduce lubrication requirements by providing effective protection against contamination.

Cooper split bearings consist of an inner ring, an outer ring, a cage and rollers, an outer shroud, two inner clamping rings, and screws to secure the shroud and clamp the rings together.
Rings help improve bearing performance and extend their service life,
Both the inner and outer rings are wire cut to minimize discontinuities, ensuring excellent clamping and precise alignment of the ring halves.
The interlocking outer ring and shroud joint not only keeps the two halves well aligned, but also reduces the risk of damage at the cracks during operation.
Wire-cut corner inner ring joints further ensure a smooth roller path.

Moving conveyor belts touching pulleys, moving pulleys and gearboxes are very dangerous operations because these components are often heavy and elevated above the ground, increasing the risk of accidents for maintenance personnel. In contrast, field replacement of a split bearing requires only slight lifting of the shaft and virtually no interference with the drive coupling or gearbox, significantly reducing safety hazards for workers.

SKF Cooper series split spherical roller bearings can be installed in all SKF metric (SNL, SNLD) and inch (SAF, SAFD, SDAF) split plummer housings.
Using SKF Cooper split spherical roller bearings can help the mining, quarrying and cement industries reduce maintenance costs and production losses, reduce environmental impact while improving worker safety.

SKF Cooper Split Bearing Installation Guide

Before installation, thoroughly inspect bearing components to ensure they are not damaged or defective.
Check shaft alignment to ensure it meets manufacturer specifications and is within tolerance.
Clean and lubricate the mating surfaces of the housing halves to facilitate assembly.
Make sure the housing halves are properly aligned to avoid misalignment issues during installation.
Place the inner ring and rolling elements on one half of the housing.
Carefully place the other half of the housing over the assembled components, making sure to line up with the mating surfaces.
Gradually and evenly tighten the bolts or fasteners to hold the housing halves together.
Use a torque wrench to adjust bolt torque to manufacturer’s recommended specifications to ensure proper assembly and alignment.
